VBS Version 1.1:
Hello all! Here comes the biggest major update the game will probably receive! Taking advantage of the extra window to submit content updates, I pretty much went full steam. A bunch of stuff I want to talk about, so let's get cracking!
ART AND INTERFACE
- Intro cutscene has received a couple visual updates and flow optimization.
- Several new musical tracks have been added!
- Stats in Skill tooltips now have different colors: this will make it easier to see what stats you should be working towards for the build that you want.
- Cars and NPCs added!
- Portraits have received a graphical update in order to blend better with the game graphics.
- Fixed a couple issues with cutscenes and music cues.
- The Pidgeon you can use for Animalism is back to being a Crow. Not as funny, but way cooler. PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT FIX OF THE WHOLE POST.
GAMEPLAY AND BALANCE
- Tutorial experience has been streamlined: Tutorial now also explains movement, types of weapons, and stats.
- Chests in sewers that contain guns now contain ammo to get you started: It was kinda disappointing to get a gun early in the game and not be able to use it.
- Drops for all enemies have been revamped and diversified: I ended my sewer section with about 10 weapons in my inventory, the droprates were so crazy. Now enemies have a lesser chance to drop useful stuff, but baseline trash drops that you can vendor.
- All enemies have been buffed by roughly 20%: Early game was fine, but late game was too easy and required no strategy. Now encounters are a bit slower and allow for more planning.
- More blood packs have been added to the sewers: To account for the increased enemy difficulty early on.
- THE GAME NOW ACTUALLY HAS VAMPIRES: There were 3 main objectives I wanted from this build regarding enemies. I wanted more tanks in enemy packs, better pack variety, and actual vampires in non-boss encounters (it was kinda lame that you could only fight humans in the outside world). All of these objectives were solved by just adding vampire packs and mixing them in with the already present ones :)
- Confuse has been nerfed: It was too prevalent in the early game and made it annoying to wade through the first sections.
- The doctor in Tezonco now sells Elder Vitae, allowing you to research high disciplines earlier if you have the money.
- Disciplines have been balanced to require 3 points for the first ability in each discipline tree: Early game, the most optimal way to spend your points was to just get level 1 points in all trees, which was bloated and broke immersion. Now you have to be more careful with the way you spend your points early on!
- Guns have been nerfed by aproximately 50%: They were out of control, giving you access to all targets, requiring little investment, and doing crazy damage. I'll keep an eye on them in the meantime, but we may have to increase ammo costs if it continues to be a problem.
- Critical hits have been normalized: they were doing too much damage as well, sometimes even 5x. They should be more predictable now and also scale better off Finesse.
- Dexterity passives have been nerfed to 15%: We were getting into situation where the enemies wouldn't get enough turns in. This should fix it.
- More attacks and skills now inflict status effects! Status effects were a major part of the planning phase, but there weren't enough sources for you to formulate a strategy.
- Bleed now allows you to ignore armor: to have it more in line with Poison and Burn.
- Spirit's Touch has been revamped to grant 30% Aggravated Attack.
- Fleshcrafting tooltip clarified to include "Torpor".
BUGS AND FIXES
- Fixed an issue where main weapons were locked in place and couldn't be swapped out.
- Fixed an issue where city and rain sounds wouldn't fade away correctly in interiors.
- Fixed an issue where Clan Points and Elder Vitae could be seen and used in combat.
- Fixed an issue where Rifle shots incorrectly cost 1 ammo.
- Fixed an issue where Honed Mind didn't make you immune to Dominate abilities.
- Fixed an issue where you could have rain in interiors. Talk about your personal storm cloud.
- Fixed an issue where the Nurse from the Summon ability wouldn't leave the battlefield in some cases.
- You can no longer run through the walls and cracks in the market, as cool and vampiric as that was. Unintended.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Please enjoy and send me any feedback or bug reports.
